Aura De La Torre, DVM

Central Orange County Emergency Animal Hospital

Audra De La Torre, DVM

Dr. De La Torre is an associate veterinarian that has been seeing both exotic and small animals for Central Orange County Emergency Animal Hospital since 2015. Her journey began in Whittier California, where she grew up and began working in the local pet store. Her love for taking care of all animals lead her to working at a nearby day practice veterinary hospital while pursuing her undergraduate degree from CSU Fullerton in Biological Science/emphasis on ecology, ornithology and mammalogy. Around this time she also met her husband who was also a biological science major (emphasis in herpatology) and a veterinary assistant interested in animals.

Dr. De La Torre and her husband both began working for Central Emergency Animal Hospital as veterinary nurses. Due to Dr. De La Torre’s discovered passion for helping animals and people, she pursued a veterinary medicine degree at Western University of Health Sciences. She renewed her interest in exotic animals, wildlife and livestock at this time. She studied and volunteered under many exotic animal and large animal veterinarians to gain more experience to provide care for these unique species.

Dr. De La Torre also performs community service at various wildlife centers, and has contributed to enhancing numbers of wild bird populations through research, intervention projects, and providing medical treatment at wildlife centers. Dr. De La Torre also became interested in population medicine and public health communicable wildlife and domestic animal diseases. She pursued and completed a Master’s in Public Health at the University of Minnesota in 2012. Since then, Dr.

De La Torre has volunteered time at non-profit wildlife centers, and was Director of Veterinary Sciences at Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach.

Dr. De La Torre has been employed at exotic animal practices and Central Orange County Emergency Animal Hospital. Her mission is to provide a loving, family environment to people of all walks of life, the community, and most small companion animal species. She currently commutes from the Inland valley and lives with her husband and two young children. She is busy in her spare time providing community service for rescue groups and volunteering at her children’s schools. She also enjoys camping, hiking, reading, and bike riding among many other outdoor activities.
